Response to Invitation by the Artist Lee Ming - Sheng for the work entitled "More Than A Sketch And An Image" Title of Response: " Let I = The Avatar M. River (AKA More Than a Construct And A Body)" |
Question Two: Describe the place you were born As an avatar, this is another tricky question. All question about the past seem to be this way. Just as my birth was an acumulanation of time based events, my birth place is a collage of locations as well. I will save telling you about one of my birthplaces, the Net (or Netz), for later. For now, let's say that was born in the middle of America. Yes, I think that is the a good answer for now. Let us say that I was in a small city in the middle of America near the Mississippi River. (Oh, I should mention here that when I was born my name was M. River. The "M" stood for Mississippi. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the "mighty" Mississippi river; It is long, runs north to south down the center of America. It is muddy and prone to flooding. It is also the setting for the story Huckelberry Finn by the author/satirist/riverboat pilot Mark Twain, AKA Samuel Clemmins. The name Mark Twain comes from from the call made by men on riverboats to notify the pilot of the river's depth. Anyway, at some point, M became Mark in order to "pass" as a real person. In my heart, I am still Mississippi.) Back to America... yes, let 's say that I was born in this land called America. Here are some things I saw when I was born in America. 1. green grass yards. 2. sky of blue, black, grey, orange and sometimes pink. 3. drive in hamburger grills covered in pink beef 4. black asphalt 5. sliver chain link fence 6. red green and sometimes yellow stoplights 7. white ice cream 8. white acoustical title 9. blue jeans with green splotches on the knees 10. black vinyl records Next page > |
